What is MGF??

MGF (Mechano Growth Factor) is a splice variant of IGF-1 (the Ec isoform in humans, CAS 87081-35-4) produced locally in muscle tissue in response to mechanical loading or damage. The unique E-domain peptide (24 aa) of MGF activates satellite cell proliferation independently of the IGF-1 receptor — acting through a distinct receptor population to expand the myoblast pool before differentiation. After local depletion (~minutes), circulating systemic IGF-1 drives differentiation and protein synthesis. PEGylated MGF extends this half-life significantly for sustained research models.

Research Applications

Satellite Cell Activation

Muscle stem cell proliferation, E-domain receptor signalling, post-injury myoblast pool expansion

Mechano-Transduction

Mechanical loading → MGF splice induction, IGF-1Ec vs. IGF-1Ea isoform comparison

Muscle Repair Models

Eccentric contraction injury, muscle wasting (cachexia, sarcopenia), re-innervation models

IGF-1 Axis Dissection

MGF vs. systemic IGF-1 temporal sequencing, E-domain vs. IGF-1R activation

Neuroprotection

MGF E-domain peptide neuroprotective effects in motor neuron and cortical neuron models

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reconstitute this peptide?
Add 1–2mL bacteriostatic water to the lyophilized vial by directing water down the inner wall of the vial. Swirl gently until the powder fully dissolves — do not shake or vortex. The solution should be clear and colourless. Use immediately or refrigerate at 2–8°C.
How should this peptide be stored?
Store lyophilized peptide vials at −20°C for long-term storage. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C (refrigerator) and use within 21–28 days. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, direct light, and heat exposure.
What purity is this Vesta compound and how is it verified?
All Vesta compounds are tested to ≥99% purity by HPLC peak area analysis on every production batch. Molecular identity is confirmed by mass spectrometry. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is published on the product page and independently verifiable at verify.janoshik.com using the batch reference number.
